Lufthansa, United modify schedules after Iran launches attack on Israel

Airlines serving the Middle East have begun changing their flight schedules after Iran launched a brutal attack on Israel, launching more than 300 drones and missiles.

German airline Lufthansa will suspend scheduled flights to Tel Aviv, Amman and Erbil until Tuesday, Reuters reported. The airline also announced it would suspend flights to Beirut and Tehran until at least Thursday due to violence in the Middle East.

Lufthansa, which also partners with Swiss and Austrian airlines, said it was assessing the situation in the Middle East and remained in touch with authorities.

German airline officials announced the suspension of round-trip flights on Friday. From Tehran It said it would not fly over Iranian airspace until at least April 18, adding that it would not fly through Iranian airspace until the suspension was lifted.

Lufthansa did not respond to inquiries from FOX Business regarding this matter.

A United Airlines spokesperson told FOX Business that scheduled flights to Tel Aviv were canceled on Sunday, but there were no flights scheduled that day to Amman and Jordan.

The next flight to Amman is scheduled to depart from Washington Dulles on Monday.

No action has been taken on scheduled flights to Amman, but a spokesperson said United is closely monitoring the situation and will make decisions about future flights with the safety of its customers and crew in mind. .

United Airlines made arrangements to temporarily move its crew out of the area on Sunday and plans to bring them back to the area as soon as it is deemed safe.

American Airlines and Delta Air Lines did not respond to requests for information about upcoming flights to the Middle East.
