Authorities in Texas are investigating a border shooting in which Indiana National Guard members allegedly opened fire on a man who stabbed two migrants. After the shooting, the suspect fled into Mexico while U.S. authorities treated the injured migrants.
The incident occurred Sunday afternoon in El Paso, according to internal U.S. Border Patrol documents leaked to NewsNation and published by journalist Ali Bradley. Federal and state authorities use this document to warn field personnel of possible dangers.

The incident occurred when Indiana National Guard troops deployed to Texas as part of Operation Lone Star opened fire on a migrant who was allegedly stabbing another migrant.
Operation Lone Star is an ongoing border security mission led by the state of Texas. State troopers and National Guard troops in multiple states are on border security duties, and Republican governors continue to claim the Biden administration is failing border security. The operation comes as U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seen record numbers of immigrant arrests and asylum-seeker applications over the past three years after migrants illegally entered the country between ports of entry. I was disappointed.
Two migrants suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the stabbing, the report said. The stabbing suspect fled to Mexico after the incident, so it remains unclear whether he was injured.
