FOX News legal analyst Jonathan Turley said Monday on FOX News Channel’s “American Report” that former President Donald Trump’s trial in New York on charges of falsifying business records is “disgraceful.” “That is,” he said.
“What’s clear in this case is, as President Trump says, this is embarrassing, given the fact that we’re actually talking about this case that’s being filed in a New York court,” Turley said. It feels completely unbelievable.”
He added, “Today’s discussion actually captured all of the issues here. You committed this misdemeanor under state law, and it was overdue. This goes back to the 2016 election. They reinstated it, claiming there was a campaign finance violation under non-existent federal law.”
Mr. Turley added. “In addition to the hard factual issues that the Trump campaign has so well explained, someone designated this as legal fees and claimed that they were actually paid far more than this because it was a legal accounting.” Remember also that this is what Hillary Clinton’s people did. When they funded the Steele dossier, which they denied to reporters, they accounted for it as a legal expense. They then disputed the fines they ultimately received from the federal government, saying they were legal costs. Now, some of those same Democrats support this bizarre theory.
