Former President Barack Obama on Monday used a Passover message to encourage Palestinians to participate in the Jewish holiday, expressing empathy for those suffering in “Israel and Gaza” and expressing solidarity with “people of all faiths.” called out.
President Obama’s vague statements obscured the fact that Palestinian terrorists continue to hold 133 Israelis hostage. In fact, he did not mention the hostages, instead saying that people “must not forget all those who are unable to celebrate this holiday with their loved ones.” He also did not address the ongoing wave of anti-Semitism on college campuses and in Democratic-run cities, saying that “people of all faiths… have the right to feel safe and secure” wherever they are. .

President Obama also misunderstood the meaning of the Passover holiday. Passover is not about “restoration, salvation, and rebirth,” but specifically about freedom, the freedom of the Israelite slaves freed in the Exodus from Egypt.
Like “hostage” and “anti-Semitism,” the word “freedom” did not appear in President Obama’s message. He also ignored the fact that for many Jews, the freedom of hostages, many of them slaves, is the main theme of this year’s Passover.
After Hamas launched the war with the October 7 terrorist attack, President Obama initially explicitly supported Israel, but backtracked under pressure from left-wing activists and before Israel entered Gaza. and began to behave in an ambiguous manner.
