Ryan Gosling thinks ‘about what’s going to matter’ on his deathbed, says ‘it always comes back to family’

Ryan Gosling talks about the influence his family has had on his life.

Gosling also told the magazine that it was “obviously” that his wife Eva Mendes was his “hero.”

The two met in 2011 on the set of The Place Beyond the Pines, where they played a married couple raising a son in dangerous conditions. It is unclear if the two ever married, but during their 13-year relationship they had two daughters, Esmeralda (9 years old) and Amada (7 years old).

“For them, the most important job is the girls. Everything else comes second,” a source told the magazine. “And their daughters are thriving. They moved out of L.A. to live a little further north, away from Hollywood. They want their daughters to grow up surrounded by other celebrity kids. I didn’t want that.”

Mendes spoke a little bit about their relationship in a recent interview with Today, revealing that she decided to take a break from acting after becoming a mother, a decision she said was “natural.”

In January 2024, Mendes wrote on Instagram: “I’m so proud of my husband. There was so much hate when he took this role. So many people hate him for doing something like this. Despite the #NotMyKen ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, and now iconic character and won an Oscar. I’m proud to be Ken’s Barbie because I brought it all the way to the awards.”
