George Santos Withdraws Bid For New York Congress

Former New York Rep. George Santos, who was expelled from the House of Representatives and is currently facing federal charges, said he is withdrawing from the race for first place.cent district.

“I have decided to decline to run as an independent for #NY1…I don’t want my candidacy to be portrayed as retaliation against Nick Larota…However, Nick and I have the same voting record. “I don’t want to split the ticket and I don’t want to be responsible for handing the House to Democrats,” Santos said. Santos has entered not guilty pleas to 23 federal charges, including misappropriation of campaign funds, misrepresentation of personal assets in a House Transparency Report, and fraud related to COVID-19 unemployment benefits.
