The Marine Corps announced Tuesday night that one U.S. Marine was killed during an operation at Camp Pendleton Air Force Base in California.
The U.S. Marine Corps said in a press release that the incident occurred during “normal military operations” at Camp Pendleton in San Diego.
The Marine died at the base at 5pm local time on Tuesday. The U.S. Marine Corps did not identify the Marine or the cause of death, pending notification of the family.
The identity of a Marine who died in a training accident near Camp Lejeune less than two weeks after being promoted has been identified.

The Marine was stationed with Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, 39th Marine Aircraft Group, part of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing based at Camp Pendleton.

Authorities said the incident was under investigation, but no further details about the incident were released.
The Marine’s death at Camp Pendleton Air Force Base came just a week after the death of Sgt. Colin Arslanbus, 23, died in a training accident at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Arslambas died during a training accident on April 18, according to a press release from Camp Lejeune officials.
The fatal accident occurred near Marine Corps Camp Lejeune shortly after 11 p.m. Located in Carteret County.
