Most Voters Believe Democrats ‘Engaged in Lawfare’ in Trump Trials

Most voters believe Democrats are “using government and the judicial system in a biased way” to politically damage former President Donald Trump, according to a Harvard-Harris College poll. .

A majority of 56% said the prosecutor’s office was “politically motivated,” and 44% said the prosecutor’s office was “fair and unbiased.”

Additionally, most voters (58%) say the Trump trial in “heavy Democratic areas” such as Manhattan and Fulton County, Ga., should be moved to another jurisdiction “to avoid any real bias or bias.” thinking. This includes 40% of Democrats, 77% of Republicans, and 58% of independents.

A 42% minority, including 60% of Democrats, say it is possible to have a fair legal process in key Democratic jurisdictions.

The poll also showed that in a head-to-head race, Trump and President Joe Biden would each have a 50% approval rating if Trump were convicted in the classified documents case or the Georgia case. . In a hypothetical scenario in which he is convicted in the federal case on Jan. 6, he leads Biden 52% to 48%.

The poll was conducted April 24-25, 2024, and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
