LeBron James doubles down on his free agent, Lakers uncertainty

LeBron James addressed various rumors surrounding his possibility of becoming a free agent in the future.

James has an opt-out in his contract this offseason, and this will be the second year in a row that the Lakers have been eliminated from the playoffs by the Nuggets.

In a post on X on Tuesday night, James effectively said that no decisions had been made.

“I’ve seen and heard a lot of reports regarding my future. I said it last night and I’ll say it again,” James tweeted.

“I don’t know yet because all I’m thinking about is spending time with my family and friends! Once I know it after talking with my family, my advice, and my expression about it, you guys will know too.” .”

“Until then,” he added with a silence emoji.

It’s unclear which report James is talking about, but chatter permeates throughout the day.

“I think LeBron is going to opt out of his contract and become a free agent for the first time since 2018,” longtime chronicler and NBA insider Brian Windhorst said Tuesday on ESPN’s “The Get Up.” .

“I think that’s going to put a little bit of pressure on the Lakers.”

Windhorst explained what it means to apply pressure.

“I think he wants to see what the Lakers do before and after the draft,” he added. “They potentially have three first-round picks that they can trade, and they also have some contracts that they can package to upgrade their team. They could make a big upgrade to this team at the trade deadline.” You remember we didn’t add anything. I think LeBron hasn’t forgotten that and he likes to put pressure on them.”

James declined to discuss his future after last night’s game.
