Seventy percent of independents believe the country is out of control, as do nearly 90% of Republicans. Just 11% of independents say the country is under control. Majorities of every race, gender, age, and income sub-group think this is out of control.
Similarly, polls show that 66% of Americans say the country is “going in the wrong direction,” and 21% say it’s “generally heading in the right direction.” 12% had no opinion.

The top issue for voters in the poll was inflation and prices, with 23% of respondents naming it as the most important issue.
