Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ kids ‘don’t care’ about parents’ stardom, hit ‘fast-forward’ on mom’s TV scene

Ryan Gosling admitted that his children with Eva Mendes are not impressed by their parents’ fame.

in a recent interview people magazine, The 43-year-old actor told the outlet that the couple, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 8, “don’t care” that their parents are Hollywood stars.

The Academy Award nominee added that there was “nothing” that would make Esmeralda and Amada see themselves as anything other than mother and father.

“Eva was in an episode of Bluey,” he recalled, referring to the animated children’s television series that his daughters loved.

“We both thought this was going to be a big deal,” Gosling said.

Mendes made a cameo appearance as a yoga instructor’s dog in a 2021 episode of Bluey. But Gosling said Esmeralda and Amada didn’t even want to see their mother.

“They didn’t like it,” Gosling recalled. “They were like, ‘Fast forward through that part!’

Gosling co-stars with Emily Blunt in the upcoming action comedy The Fall Guy, which he also produced. He plays a stuntman hired to work on his ex-girlfriend’s directorial debut, only to find himself drawn into a sinister conspiracy when the lead actor goes missing.

Gosling performed some of his own stunts in “Fall Guys,” but said his daughters had forbidden him from having anything to do with fireworks.

“The kids didn’t want me to be set on fire,” Gosling said. “They said, ‘No, no fire.’ So I didn’t do it.”

Blunt, 41, told People that children “don’t want you to be anything other than their parents.”

The actress, who has daughters Hazel, 9, and Violet, 7, with husband John Krasinski, explained that her children don’t like watching their parents’ work either.

“I’ve only seen ‘Jungle Cruise’ once because they don’t like watching me on screen,” the “Oppenheimer” star said. “I understand that because I’m their mother, but it’s very strange to see me play someone else.”

Additionally, Blunt said that Hazel and Violet were upset by some of her scenes in the 2021 fantasy adventure film.

“They didn’t like the underwater situation where I was trapped and in danger,” she recalled. “They left the room.”

“I think ‘La La Land’ was the first,” he said of when he realized his children could enjoy the filmmaking process, too. “We were like, oh, this is going to be fun for them too, because even though they’re not coming to the set, we’re still practicing the piano and dancing and singing every day. Because there is.”

He went on to explain that once you have a child, you “start to be more conscious about everything you do and everything you’ve ever done.”

In addition to earning Gosling his third Academy Award nomination, playing Ken in Barbie was a unique opportunity for him to bond with his two daughters, who are fans of the iconic doll.

“The inspiration was their interest in Barbie and their indifference to Ken. I thought they had already made a little movie about Barbie on the iPad when it happened. So the fact that I was going to put in the work to make the movie too, we were just like, ‘We felt like we were aligned. ”
