Joe Biden, Donald Trump deadlocked in national survey

Roughly six months after Election Day, a new national poll found President Biden and former President Trump tied.

USA Today/Suffolk University poll It found that Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump each had about 37% support among registered voters. Additionally, he said 12% were still undecided.

When voters were asked who they would vote for if the election were held today, third-party and independent candidates also received some support. The poll found that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. received 8% support, but about 5% of voters chose another third-party candidate or an independent candidate.

Opinion polls also revealed that even after six months since the election, voters’ views have not yet been completely determined. 24% of all respondents, including 43% of independent voters, said they might change their minds before voting in November.

According to the pollster, Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump have similar approval ratings among independents, with Mr. Trump at 27% and Mr. Biden at 26%. USA Today He noted that national polls show that support for Mr. Biden among independents has increased by 5 points since the last poll in January, while Mr. Trump’s support has decreased by 4 points.

USA Today also reported that Biden has made small gains in national polls since January, when Trump had a narrow 3-point lead. Additionally, the news organization reported that Biden’s approval rating among black voters has increased by 7 points since January to 64%, while Trump’s approval rating is flat at 12%.

The poll was conducted with live telephone interviews of 1,000 registered voters from April 30 to May 3, and had a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.

Many other national polls also show the two leading candidates in a close race. Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump each receive about 45 percent support, according to the head-to-head average of national polls from The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters.
