“The Roast of Tom Brady” appears to have been a huge hit for Netflix, with nearly all of the roasters except one receiving positive reviews from the Kia Forum crowd on Sunday night.
Massachusetts native and Hollywood star Ben Affleck led the nearly seven-and-a-half-minute show pitting future Hall of Fame quarterbacks against each other, but he ranted and got so heated about internet trolls that the format was cut short. made little sense.
Sports personality Katie Nolan has questioned whether she was sober on stage.
Nolan lamented that Affleck never seems to be at his best when it comes to sports.
“Can I ask you, why doesn’t Affleck look good on sports TV? Every time he does something on sports TV, we say, ‘Isn’t he on drugs?’ It becomes a hot topic. Affleck – Alleged.” Nolan said Monday on “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stagots.” “Just like I’m bad at telling if someone’s wearing fake hair, I’m not good at telling if someone’s using drugs. But he stayed up late at a wedding with a guy. It gave me that energy that you get when you’re stuck talking and you don’t realize until you’re engrossed in the conversation, ‘Oh, this person is drinking coke.’
As Nolan noted, Sunday wasn’t the first time Affleck was asked to make a sports-related appearance.
Affleck previously appeared on Bill Simmons’ then-canceled HBO show “Any Given Wednesday” in 2016, where he lambasted the NFL over Brady’s suspension related to Deflategate. launched a fierce attack filled with
Nolan took note of that on Monday while continuing to criticize his appearance at the roast.
“Ben Affleck, come on, baby. Step up,” Nolan said.
Amid the Netflix criticism, Affleck lashed out at the trolls on social media after Brady explained that he showed the “Gone Girl” star references to X and how harmful they were.
In his rant, Affleck mentioned one particular user, “Tallboy Henry.”
“The fans are rooting for you,” Brady said. “You guys out there talking shit behind your fucking keyboard, that doesn’t make you a fan, it makes you a bitch.”
When it was suggested on Monday that maybe Affleck didn’t want to be there, Nolan had a simple suggestion.
“Okay, why don’t you just stop coming?” Nolan said. “You’re at a Tom Brady roast and you’re like a fan representative. …Like why did he come at a ghost? I don’t even know, but that Twitter guy was real. I doubt it. I don’t think he’s talking to the real Twitter guy who actually tweeted to Tom Brady.”
Affleck ended up cracking a joke about Brady, but that didn’t stop Nolan from ranting about Brady’s appearance.
