Judge Merchan ‘Lost Control of His Courtroom’

FOX News legal analyst Jonathan Turley said on FOX News Channel on Tuesday. america report Judge Juan Machan reportedly lost control of the courtroom during Stormy Daniels’ testimony in former President Donald Trump’s New York business records trial.

Mr Turley said:

You know, the judge’s statement that he was surprised there weren’t more objections from the defense is puzzling. Her defense attorney opposed having her on the stand. Then they objected to the scope of the questioning, and now the judge sounded like Claude Rains saying, I’m shocked, shocked that I have a porn star in my courtroom. Well, what did you expect if you were going to give so much scope to the testimony? And the problem with what the judge did here is that this is a completely unnecessary witness. There is no dispute that an NDA exists, and even if there was one, what happened in their relationship is immaterial to how those payments were presented by the Trump campaign.

He continued:

The court therefore had the opportunity to reiterate that the details of this relationship would not be addressed in this court. If you want to establish a relationship, do it. Please confirm the date. Perhaps these facts could have been stipulated. So prosecutors wanted to uncover sordid details. This is a kind of punishment. They are trying to use witnesses for punitive and, in my view, political purposes, and this is what is happening. It happened because the judge lost control of the courtroom.

John Roberts said, “Jonathan, I don’t think there’s any dispute that this was just to make Trump look bad.”

Turley said, “You know, there’s no way you can make this cat walk backwards. The judge and the prosecutor know that, but what the prosecutor is making here is just ridiculous.”
