A few years ago, there was a split in the United Methodist Church over the question of whether the church should be “gay affirming.”
“It also has something to do with gay clergymen, who are openly gay and who treat homosexuality and same-sex relationships as something so-called sacred, normal and respectable, no different from actual heterosexual marriage.” I’m talking about it in a dimensional way.” allie beth stuckey I will explain.
Currently, the controversy continues.
Last Wednesday, delegates to the United Methodist Church’s General Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, voted to overturn the church’s historic discipline and doctrine on homosexuality and same-sex marriage.
The ruling, approved by a vote of 692-51, approved the removal of language from the discipline book prohibiting the ordination of self-identified homosexuals.
“What happened is that progressives, after basically taking over the UMC in 2019, hollowed out the Methodist Church, the Methodist denomination, and made us abandon Christianity and abandon the history of the church. “We have decided that we are going to abandon our beliefs and we are going to abandon the Bible all together,” Stuckey said.
“And we are essentially abandoning Christianity,” she added.
“This is what always happens when you abandon the Bible,” she continues. “When you decide that the Bible is not authoritative, or when you decide that your own opinions, cultural changes, and societal whims are more authoritative than the Word of God, you are always subject to the spirit of the age. ”
“And sexual depravity and the feelings and desires that you have, naturally take precedence over the Word of God. You will change the definition of holiness, you will change the definition of sin and repentance, And it will change the very definition of good and evil.”
