Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) proposed Thursday that the House should impeach President Joe Biden for withholding ammunition from Israel for political reasons.
Biden pledged on Wednesday to halt shipments of offensive weapons to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in an effort to stop Israel from attacking Hamas in Rafah.
Biden’s decision to withhold bomb supplies from Israel has political implications. While Biden’s base wants him to cut funding to Israel, many moderate Democrats support Israel’s ability to protect it from terrorists. Biden is trailing in the polls and appears to be stuck in the middle in an election year.
Some Republicans and establishment media pundits were quick to characterize the pledge as a “political decision.”
Former President Donald Trump was impeached by Democrats for allegedly withholding military aid from Ukraine for political reasons despite Congressional approval.
Cotton: “The House has no choice but to impeach Biden, based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to support his re-election bid.” Posted “That’s only true when it comes to Biden.”

CNN senior political commentator and former Obama adviser David Axelrod said Wednesday that Biden’s threat to withhold some arms sales to Israel comes at a time when House Democrats impeached Trump over Ukraine-related issues. argued that it was different. “He’s been talking about this for months,” he said.
But CNN senior political commentator Scott Jennings pushed back. “We impeached the president of the United States for withholding $400 million in military aid from Ukraine that Congress had approved,” Jennings said. “That was the basis for impeachment. This was military aid to allies authorized by Congress, and he [Biden] It is being withheld for political reasons. ”

President Trump accused Biden of withholding ammunition for political reasons. “Biden’s actions against Israel are shameful,” Trump said before entering a Manhattan courtroom for his criminal trial.
“He did it as a political decision,” Trump said. “We have to make the right decision, not a political one.”
