Trump Continues to Dominate Swing States

Former President Donald Trump maintains a strong hold among key voters in battleground states, making historic inroads with Hispanic, black and young voters. new york times/Siena/philadelphia inquirer The poll was revealed on Monday.

Trump leads in five of the six battleground states. In four of the five states (excluding Pennsylvania), Trump’s lead is outside the margin of error.

  • Arizona: Trump 49%-42% (registered voters), 49%-43% (prospective voters)
  • Georgia: Trump 49%-39% (registered voters), 50%-41% (prospective voters)
  • Michigan: Trump 49%-42% (registered voters), Biden 47%-46% (prospective voters)
  • Nevada: Trump 50%-38% (registered voters), 51%-38% (prospective voters)
  • Pennsylvania: Trump 47%-44% (registered voters), 48%-45% (prospective voters)
  • Wisconsin: Biden 47%-45% (registered voters), Trump 47%-46% (prospective voters)

The results of the hypothetical matchups were similar even when third-party candidates were included on the ballot. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. won by an average of 10 percentage points across six states, but appeared to have equal support from both Trump and Biden.

The polling data appeared little changed since November’s battleground state polls. Six months later, Nate Cohn times‘s chief political analyst reported on the poll released in May:

  • Polls give little indication whether these trends have helped Mr. Biden, hurt Mr. Trump or quelled voter dissatisfaction. Instead, the survey shows that the cost of living, immigration, Israel’s war in Gaza, and a desire for change continue to weigh on the president.
  • More than half of voters still think the economy is in “bad shape,” having declined by just 1 percentage point since November, despite slowing inflation, a halt to interest rate hikes, and a strong stock market rally.
  • Trump and Biden are essentially tied among 18- to 29-year-olds and Hispanic voters, even though each group gave Biden more than 60% of the vote in 2020. Trump also received more than 20 votes. This is the highest percentage of black voters supporting a Republican presidential candidate since the enactment of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.

One new data point shows Biden is struggling with the 2022 Supreme Court ruling that abortion is a national issue. About 20% of voters blamed Biden for the ruling rather than Trump.

poll sampled The margin of error is 3.6 points (Pennsylvania) to 4.6 points, based on a count of 4,097 registered voters in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin from April 28 to May 9. points (Georgia), the total was 1.8 points.
