A spokesperson for Democratic Gov. Maura Healey’s office told FOX News Digital that operations of the Cass Center will be transferred to the Department of Conservation and Recreation in time for the pool’s June 22 opening.

A spokesperson said the entire family was moved from the Cass Center to more stable housing options outside the shelter system or to safety-net sites in other states.

The state’s safety net site is designed for families who are considered eligible for emergency assistance shelters but are on shelter waiting lists, a spokesperson said. Emergency assistance is targeted at homeless families with children and pregnant women.

Roughly half of the families receiving emergency assistance are newly arrived immigrants, and the other half are long-time Massachusetts residents, the spokesperson added.
