“Real Time” host Bill Maher was a guest on Tuesday’s episode of “The View” and advocated for Israel’s right to protect itself from the terrorist organization Hamas.
Maher’s sharp speech left the show’s co-hosts speechless, but after several minutes of awkward silence, most of the hosts applauded.
“Hamas needs to be destroyed because it is a terrorist organization that openly desires genocide against the Jewish people and the state of Israel. That is what we mean by ‘from the river to the sea.'”
The segment began with a disagreement about how to use the word “woke,” after which Maher (as he often does) skewered the “far left” for its illiberal ideology, to which Maher deadpanned, “Don’t tell me the left hasn’t changed. I mean, I’m old enough to remember when the left was.” conservatives He hated the Jews.”
The silence of the crowd told him that they either didn’t like his joke or didn’t get it, but Maher said he realized how much he was “watching people protest against terrorist organizations like Hamas.” I pointed out how upset she was and then brought up a good point. Mr. Maher soon added that pro-Palestinian protesters on college campuses “are astounding to me that they can’t tell the difference between the good guys and the bad guys.” I mean, morally…if you’re a Hamas supporter, let me tell you. Try living in Gaza for a day, and I’m not talking about while the war is going on, believe me, you’ll be screaming and begging to live in Tel Aviv. values. ”
Maher added that women have no rights in Gaza or in “majority Muslim countries around the world.” That means there are no equal rights to speech, dress, educational opportunities, reproductive rights, or freedom from sexual violence. , freedom from sexual harassment. He added that pro-Palestinian protesters “abuse the word ‘apartheid,’ but gender apartheid exists in many parts of the world, and women are second-class citizens at best.” He also said.
Co-host Sunny Hostin then cited the popular left-wing “what-if” doctrine, saying that in Gaza “innocent civilians, primarily children and women, were being punished and killed.” I asked Maher if he was at all worried about this. ”
Maher quickly shot back: “This is war,” and said Israel was “under attack and is defending itself.” I then asked Hostin if he thought Hamas “needs to be destroyed,” to which he replied, “Yes.”
Mr. Maher then asserted that Israel has the right to defend itself, peppering his “The View” co-host with the following assertion:
Hamas needs to be destroyed because it is a terrorist organization that openly wants to commit genocide against the Jewish people and the state of Israel. That’s what they mean by “from the river to the sea.” …Since the land was returned, they have attacked Israel five times and started five wars. They could have chosen to change course. [Gaza] They went wherever they wanted, and took a lot of money from the international community, spending it on bombs and guns and tunnels. So if you need to destroy them, how do you destroy them? It’s war. I don’t know how to do it, and you don’t know how to do it. The way to stop this is to stop attacking Israel.
The co-hosts around the table, as well as the audience, sat in complete silence for what seemed like an eternity, but after three seconds of no mouth movement, most of the co-hosts I applauded along with the audience.
