Crowd Gathers for Donald Trump’s Historic Rally in the Bronx

The rally in the Democratic stronghold of the Bronx drew large crowds as former President Donald Trump keeps his promise to campaign aggressively in traditionally Democratic areas in the 2024 election.

“President Trump intends to speak directly about how Bronx residents have become worse off under Joe Biden’s policies, particularly ‘Bidennomics,’ which has resulted in the highest inflation in a generation,” said Caroline Leavitt, a spokeswoman for the Trump campaign. Said Trump issued a statement to Spectrum News NY1 before speaking at Crotona Park.

Videos posted to social media showed crowds gathering ahead of the former president’s landmark speech, with some supporters lining up to see Trump seven hours before the big speech.

Trump also shared a video explaining why voters support the former president, writing: “Thank you. See you tonight at 6pm ET!”

The rally came after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a New York Democrat, apparently upset by Trump’s presence in her hometown, acknowledged that Democrats were engaged in a legal battle to keep him off the campaign trail.

“New York City is blue. Brooklyn is blue. Queens is blue. The Bronx is blue. He had nowhere else to go so he decided to come to the South Bronx,” she said.

“He’s bankrupt. Paying the legal fees, busing people around and taking the donations to pay for the legal fees is kind of his job right now,” she argued, ignoring the fact that Trump has said for months that he would target Democratic strongholds.

Trump also drew an estimated 100,000 people to a rally in Wildwood, New Jersey, in May.
