President Joe Biden, also known as “Scranton Joe,” is facing low support and enthusiasm from Pennsylvania Democrats, a problem that has baffled party officials.
Biden, a Scranton native, has sought to portray a blue-collar image to win over the state’s working- and middle-class voters.

A recent AARP poll shows Trump leading Biden in Pennsylvania by four points, 49 percent to 45 percent.
When third-party candidates were added, Trump’s lead grew to 46 percent, while Biden received 41 percent.
Half of voters in battleground states like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan said the economy has gotten worse under Biden, according to a CBS News poll.

One political strategist told the outlet that Pennsylvania Democrats have “performed very well” in elections in the state “in recent years,” adding that Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) and Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-PA) are good examples.
“Everyone knows this is a battleground state, but it’s never going to be a close race,” the strategist told the outlet.
“Biden should have always been in the lead, and the fact that he isn’t should be a wake-up call.”

Former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell (Democrat) expressed confidence that Biden “would win” if the election were held tomorrow.
“If the election were held tomorrow, I’m confident he would win,” Rendell told the outlet.
Similarly, when asked in an interview with CBS News about polls showing a close race between Trump and Biden, Fetterman acknowledged that while it was a close race, Biden would beat Trump again.
