Seventy organisations have called on all relevant authorities and international institutions to officially declare a famine in the Gaza Strip, where there is a rapid spread of famine, according to the Geneva-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor. It said that food insecurity is increasing across the enclave because of Israel’s use of starvation as a “weapon of war” against the Palestinian people – something the organisations say is part of a genocide. The organisation said food security levels have significantly declined due to the Israeli army’s offensive in Rafah which began in early May.

Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades said it launched a “big missile” attack on Tel Aviv on Sunday as the Israeli military sounded sirens in the central city warning of possible incoming rockets. In a statement on its Telegram channel, al-Qassam Brigades said the rockets were launched in response to what it called “Zionist massacres against civilians”. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in what appeared to be the first long-range rocket attack from Gaza since January.

At least 35,984 Palestinian people have been killed and 80,643 injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza since 7 October, Gaza’s health ministry said in a statement.

Amnesty International on Monday urged the international criminal court to investigate as war crimes three recent Israeli strikes that killed 44 Palestinian civilians, including 32 children. Amnesty said three Israeli strikes – one on the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza on 16 April, and two on Rafah in southern Gaza on 19 and 20 April – are “further evidence of a broader pattern of war crimes” committed by the Israeli military in Gaza, reports AFP.

EU foreign ministers are due to meet Middle Eastern leaders in Brussels today to discuss ways to “rejuvenate the political process,” EU diplomat Joseph McCain said. Josep BorrellSaid.
He called on world leaders to “respect” the International Criminal Court’s decision last week to issue arrest warrants for Gaza leaders Yahya Sinwar and Benjamin Netanyahu, a move that infuriated the Israeli prime minister.
“The court’s prosecutors are, as always, being heavily threatened and accused of anti-Semitism for doing something that doesn’t please anyone in the Netanyahu government,” Borrell said.
“I find the accusations of anti-Semitism against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court completely unacceptable.”
The foreign ministers are due to meet with the Arab League secretary-general and the leaders of Egypt, Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
ActionAid issued a statement in response to the “brutal” attacks in the country. West Rafa.
The charity said no one’s safety is guaranteed in Gaza and reiterated its call for an immediate ceasefire.
ActionAid’s statement read as follows:
We are outraged and saddened by the recent attack in western Rafah, where Israeli warplanes fired eight missiles at an area housing internally displaced people (IDPs) next to a UNRWA warehouse housing vital relief supplies.
These shelters were meant to be safe havens for innocent civilians, but they have become targets of brutal violence, with children, women and men being burned alive under their tents and shelters.
Gaza’s civil defence estimates that around 100,000 internally displaced people are currently in the targeted areas. So far, 50 charred bodies have been recovered as workers work through the raging fires. The death toll is expected to rise.
The photos of burnt corpses sent by our partners are a stain on the face of humanity and the international community, which has failed to protect the people of Gaza until now. One of our ActionAid colleagues narrowly escaped this atrocity, leaving his shelter just one day before the attack. But no one’s safety is guaranteed in Gaza.
EU foreign policy chief criticizes continued military action in Rafah
EU Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrellteeth, Israel Israel continues to press ahead with its military operations in southern Gaza despite an International Court of Justice ruling calling on Israel to immediately cease military operations.
Borel He said the International Court of Justice ruling needed to be implemented ahead of a meeting of EU foreign ministers, adding that they would work to reach a political decision on setting up a dedicated EU border support mission for the Rafah border crossing.
The Palestinian Red Crescent said its emergency services had removed a “large number” of people killed or wounded in the Rafah attack.
The group added that the site of the attack had been designated a humanitarian area by Israel and “residents were forced to seek refuge there.”
The spokesman said the death toll was likely to rise as search and rescue operations continued in the Tal al-Sultan area of Rafah, about 2km northwest of the city centre.
“Many people currently remain trapped under fire or in tents destroyed by bombs.”
