Joe and Hunter Biden attend church, visit Beau Biden’s grave days before first son’s federal trial

WILMINGTON, Del. — President Biden and his eldest son, Hunter Biden, attended church together Thursday morning, four days before jury selection begins in his son’s trial on federal firearms charges.

Biden, 81, and Hunter, 54, attended Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church to mark the ninth anniversary of the death of Joe Biden’s eldest son, Beau.

Photographers captured Hunter and his father walking side by side outside the church cemetery where Beau is buried, but it is unclear if they exchanged words.

Hunter and Joe Biden then boarded Marine One, the presidential helicopter, for the flight to the first family’s vacation home in nearby Rehoboth Beach, where Biden plans to spend the rest of the day.

The president paid a surprise visit Sunday to the home of Beau’s widow, Hallie Biden, who has been in a relationship with Hunter since his brother’s death and is one of 12 people scheduled to appear as witnesses in the trial.

Hunter Biden is accused of falsely stating he had a drug addiction on federal paperwork in order to illegally purchase a .38-caliber Colt revolver in October 2018. If convicted on all three charges, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

Harry threw the gun in a public trash can a few days after buying it. The gun’s owner tested positive for cocaine, according to prosecutors, and his eldest son admitted to using cocaine during the same period in his 2021 memoir.

Hunter agreed to a probation-only plea deal on the gun and tax offenses in June, but threw out that “sweet” deal in a dramatic court hearing in which he sought broad immunity for past conduct, including possible Foreign Agents Registration Act violations involving his father.

Hunter is also scheduled to go on trial in Los Angeles in September on charges that he failed to pay more than $1.4 million in federal taxes between 2016 and 2019 on foreign income from overseas ties that frequently involved his father, including when Joe Biden served as vice president.
