Verdict: Misleading
The Houthis have not offered any evidence for their claims, and defense officials have denied that the Eisenhower was attacked.
Fact check:
A Houthi rebel spokesman said in a statement on Twitter that the group launched a missile attack on the US aircraft carrier USS Eisenhower in retaliation for recent airstrikes by US and British forces in Hodeida.
The statement read, “Yemeni forces conducted a joint military operation targeting the American aircraft carrier ‘Eisenhower’ in the Red Sea. The operation was carried out using a number of winged and ballistic missiles and the hit was precise and direct. Thanks be to Allah.”
However, there is no evidence that this attack occurred or that the Eisenhower sustained any damage. Neither the video statement nor the graphics provide any evidence that the carrier was attacked.
Department of Defense Spokesperson A US Central Command spokesman told Check Your Facts that the allegations were “not true” and that “nothing has happened to Ike.” The spokesman said they had no information about any Houthi attacks.
Pentagon officials say this is false information — there was no attack on Ike or anywhere near it. https://t.co/TiXgO6uaYE

In addition, Captain Chris “Chowder” Hill A spokesman for the Eisenhower posted a video of a “demonstration captain” on board in response to the Houthi allegations, suggesting the ship was not in immediate danger. (Related: No, the video does not show the Taliban shooting down a Pakistani helicopter)

of Associated Press The British Ministry of Defence reported that it had confirmed that the Royal Air Force had recently carried out airstrikes in Hodeida. The ministry said the targeted buildings were equipped with “long-range drones and surface-to-air weapons”. Three US officials told the outlet that Eisenhower had taken part in the airstrikes.
The Houthis have made similar military claims in the past. In January 2024, they said they attacked a US warship in the Red Sea with a ballistic missile. A Pentagon spokesman said at the time: Check the facts “Those reports are false,” he said in an email.
When reached for comment, Captain Demo told Check Your Fact: “Waah!”
