Comedian Jon Stewart has found rare common ground with former President Donald Trump.
Jon Stewart recently appeared on fellow comedian Tom Segura’s podcast to talk about the recent guilty verdict in Trump’s business records case in heavily Democratic New York City.
Stewart agreed with Trump’s repeated claims that the system is “rigged against” him, but disagreed on how to respond.
“Someone may be right about the diagnosis but wrong about the remedy, so they can diagnose the system as rigged, and it clearly is rigged,” Stewart said. “The interesting thing is that once that’s exposed, reformers come along and say we’re going to fix this and make it fair.”
Stewart argued that Trump doesn’t want to make the system fairer, but rather to take it over. “If you don’t mind me signing the deed, I’ll take care of it,” he said, with a straight face.
During the podcast, Stewart also criticized efforts by the left to remove Trump from the November election at all costs.
“Everything except having better ideas,” he said.
A Democratic-leaning jury in New York City on Thursday found former President Donald Trump guilty on all 34 charges in the business records lawsuit, which has been condemned by prominent conservatives and independents as a politically motivated prosecution, or “loafer,” case, designed to tip the scales in November’s presidential election for Biden.
Breitbart News reported that the New York Supreme Court Justice presiding over the case, Judge Juan Marchan, is a Biden donor, violating judicial ethics rules.
