President Joe Biden has been keen to defend his record at the border. time He told the magazine that he has no regrets about ending the border controls imposed by former President Donald Trump, even as he has watched record numbers of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Since taking office, Biden has remade the border through several executive orders, regulatory changes and policy initiatives that have reversed Trump’s border controls, resulting in levels of illegal immigration never seen before in American history.

One of Biden’s most significant policy moves was to halt construction of a wall along the southern border that was underway under the Trump administration.
Similarly, Biden ended the Remain in Mexico policy along with the Central American Cooperation Agreement, which ensures that migrants passing through Mexico, which has strict asylum procedures, are not allowed to seek asylum in the United States before seeking asylum in Mexico.
Biden also repealed Title 42 border controls and created a vast catch-and-release network, including a parole pipeline for migrants at the southern border seeking release into the interior of the U.S.
