Christians Today Must ‘Wake Up’ and Speak the Truth; Telling People What They Want to Hear Is Not ‘Love’

During a recent television appearance, Pastor Allen Jackson of World Outreach Church in Rutherford County, Tennessee, said Christians need to “wake up” to what’s going on in politics, society and culture and tell people the truth about what’s going on in the world. Breitbart News Daily About his new show Allen Jackson NOW: Christian Wisdom for a Distressed Nation It offers perspective on the events of the day from a Biblical worldview.

Jackson said of his show. Debuts Monday on TBN Speaking about the show, which airs weekdays at 7pm ET, he explained that he felt like “people need to be a little aware of what’s going on in the world.”

“We’ve lost trust in a lot of sources of information, from the CDC to Homeland Security to, at this point, the judiciary. So rather than getting angry or upset or anxious about it, we thought that with a little perspective, a little bit of God, a biblical worldview, we could bring people some peace. So we’re doing this,” he said, explaining that Christians have long lived under the notion that you don’t talk about politics or faith in “polite gatherings.”

“And now Christians are taking to the stage. We have to wake up. It was Christian Europe that led the Holocaust. It wasn’t pagan cultures. It wasn’t non-Christian cultures. All those beautiful cathedrals and churches of Europe were leading the death camps,” Jackson warned.

“Not only Germany and the Nazis were complicit in this, but Christian Europe too. And if we do not wake up, it will be worse than that. Indifference is a sin,” he said, adding that he was confused why so many Christians remained bystanders.

“I can’t explain why we don’t do that other than it’s hard, we want somebody else to take responsibility, but I pray that we wake up and do our part,” Jackson said, highlighting some of the evils that need to be tackled head-on today.

“From our casual attitudes towards life and abortion to attempting to sexualise young children, I find it completely unacceptable to target children with this kind of predatory behaviour,” Jackson said, noting that his community has even had trouble removing pornographic books from elementary school libraries.

“I’ve heard Vanderbilt Medical Center brag about the profits they make from sex-reassignment surgery for young people. Seriously, that’s insane. And when you look at the bigger picture, Homeland Security isn’t guarding our borders, it’s policing parents on school boards. If they’re not doing their job, then that ministry should be shut down,” the pastor said, adding, “You don’t have to look far to find something that gets you excited.”

“But on the other hand, I see amazing expressions of goodness and I have so much confidence in the people who cooperate with God,” he said, sounding optimistic.

“That’s what made this country great. And we can get back to this country if we’re willing to do something a little harder than what we’ve been willing to do the past few years,” he said, noting that “evil is often subtle” and that the country is rife with “deceptive, manipulative and authoritarian” leftists like California Governor Gavin Newsom (D), who supports transgender children and is obsessed with “climate change.”

“If they’re abusing 1% of kids, then that 1% is the one we need to protect. And now, my [academic background] “I started out in basic science, so I’m all for protecting the environment, but if you’re burning coal to make electricity for your EV, that’s not really profitable. It’s less efficient than burning oil to begin with. So we need to start telling the truth about the environment,” he added.

“We have a guest each time,” he said, explaining the show’s format. TBN’s new 30-minute show“And we tried to pick people from all different areas of what’s going on. I spoke to the former Secretary of Homeland Security. I spoke to the guy who founded the Free Burma Rangers, who works for persecuted Christians around the world. Just amazing stories. I spoke to some of the legal team who worked to get the job at the Supreme Court. I really enjoyed meeting people who are on the front lines of these issues. It showed me that they’re not angry. They’re doing something. And that’s been more helpful to me than I ever thought it would be.”

“We’re trying to leave little notes of hope that give people an idea of, ‘What can we do?’ for the next day,” he explained. “When you watch the news, it fills you with despair. We wanted to give people a chance to have a little bit of hope.”

Jackson also offered an alternative response to those trapped in the belief held by many on the left that simply being a “nice person” is the highest virtue.

“Well, I think that’s unbiblical. I was with Voddy Baucham on Saturday and he says the 11th commandment is to be kind, and that’s unbiblical,” Jackson said. “If you go to a doctor who’s only telling you good news or what you want to hear, we would call that medical malpractice and we would revoke that doctor’s license.”

“And in the context of our faith, we only hear the good news and people only tell us what we want to hear. That’s spiritual perversion. The reality is, the truth is often unsettling and uncomfortable because it requires behavioral change to get to a better place,” he said, explaining that it’s “the best way to live.” [is] It’s about having people around you who love you enough to tell you the truth.”

Jackson explained that the Christian community is deeply troubled by this line of thinking, and that hiding the truth from people is actually a very unkind and unloving thing to do.

“And I think where the Christian community gets confused is they think love is telling people everything is fine when everything is not fine. We’re going to have to have the courage and compassion enough to tell people the truth,” he said.

“It’s not compassionate to lie to people so they don’t have to get back on track,” he said. “It’s much more compassionate to tell them the reality of the world we live in.”

In his final words to Americans, Jackson explained that deciding to live a life that pleases God is the ultimate thing we can do.

“Let us please God. If you think about it, we really don’t need to be the majority. The story of the Bible is not about how many of us there are. Gideon led a small group of people against overwhelming odds. David fought Goliath. So those of us who are awake and paying attention and caring about God’s attitude, let us please God. If we please God, He will deal with the fools,” he said.

“Our mission is to please God and that can be done by anybody today. How do we deal with our families, our workplaces, our neighbors? How can we please God today? Let’s lean into that and see what God does. They disrespect our bosses but I have absolute confidence that God is watching over us. Let’s just focus on pleasing God,” Jackson said.
