United Auto Workers (UAW) President Sean Fain on Wednesday defended Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) in a hotly contested primary election.
“The @UAW is fighting for economic justice from the bargaining table to the ballot box,” Fain said. stated in the post On social platform X, he wrote, “We need leaders like @JamaalBowmanNY who will fight to make sure the wealthy pay their fair share. We can’t keep electing people who are too scared to stand up to billionaires.”

The high-profile contest between Bowman and Latimer for the Democratic nomination for New York’s 16th Congressional District has caused divisions among progressive New York Democrats after former Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-N.Y.) endorsed Latimer.
“Jamaal Bowman has the support of the entire Democratic Party – from House leadership to the Caucus of Black Progressives to the labor party to the grassroots movement – because he is a proven, effective and beloved leader.
