Most Georgia voters think their finances are good — but not the economy: Poll

A majority of Georgia voters say their personal financial situations are good but they have a pessimistic outlook for the overall state of the economy, according to a poll released Wednesday.

in Quinnipiac University Poll In a poll of Georgia voters conducted May 30-June 3, 2024, fewer than a third of voters (29%) rated the state’s economic situation as very good (4%) or good (25%). Seventy percent of voters said the economic situation was not very good (26%) or bad (44%).

At the same time, 61 percent of voters say their current financial situation is very good (11 percent) or good (50 percent), while 38 percent say it is not very good (24 percent) or bad (14 percent).

There are large partisan divides in how people view the state of the economy, but even among Democrats, very few respondents have a positive outlook on the nation’s economic situation.

Among Democrats, 55% responded “very good” (7%) or “good” (48%), while 44% responded “not very good” (32%) or “bad” (12%).

Among Republicans, 7% say the economy is excellent (1%) or good (6%), while 93% say it is not very good (22%) or bad (71%).

Among independents, 32% say the economic situation is very good (5%) or good (27%), while 66% say it is not very good (23%) or bad (43%).

The Biden administration has long grappled with a disconnect between how Americans perceive the state of the overall economy and how they report their own financial situations, a gap Mr. Biden has campaigned on bridging as he seeks reelection to the White House.

The poll included 1,203 registered voters in Georgia and had a margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percentage points.
