Man named ‘Optimus Prime’ arrested for auto theft: Texas police

Law enforcement officials in Austin, Texas, arrested a man bearing the name of a well-known “Autobot” leader last week for allegedly stealing a vehicle.

The Austin Police Department FOX 7 in AustinOptimus Prime Blakely, 37, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to the affidavit, Blakely was stopped by officers on June 4 after being seen driving on Congress Avenue near Ladham Lane in a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

The name “Optimus Prime” was made famous by the 1980s animated series “Transformers,” which later became several blockbuster movies starring stars such as Mark Wahlberg, Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Bernie Mac and Jon Voight.

The film’s premise is that alien robots infiltrate Earth in the form of vehicles, everyday objects, or even insects.

As a robot in disguise, Optimus Prime transformed into a large red and blue truck.

As for the man with the Transformer name, Blakely was taken to police headquarters for processing and then transported to the Travis County Jail where he was being held on $8,000 bail.
