Pop Star Chappell Roan Explains Why She Rejected Joe Biden’s Invitation to Perform at White House Pride Month Event

Celebrity support for Joe Biden is drying up fast.

Pop star Chapel Lone has become the latest entertainer to snub President Biden, 81, for turning down an invitation to perform at a White House event celebrating Pride Month.

Appearing at New York’s Governors Ball festival on Sunday, Chapel Lawn dressed up as the Statue of Liberty and told the crowd she wanted “freedom, justice and liberation for all,” including “all the oppressed peoples of the occupied territories.”

She did not elaborate, but her reference to “oppressed peoples in the occupied territories” appears to be a reference to Gaza.

“In response to the White House asking me to perform for Pride,” Roan said, “We want freedom, justice and liberation for all people, and when you get that, I’m in.”

Singer’s agent Said variety The White House reportedly tried to contact Loan through her management but was turned down.

“I’m dressed like the biggest queen of all time,” she continued, “but in case you’ve forgotten what’s inscribed on my pretty little toe, it says: ‘Give me the tired, the poor, the throngs that yearn to breathe free.'”

“It means freedom and transgender rights. It means freedom and women’s rights. And it means freedom for all the oppressed peoples, especially in the occupied territories.”

Chappell Roan is the latest celebrity to refuse or withdraw her support for Biden.

Other celebrities who have declined to endorse Biden in 2024 include Cardi B, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and radio host Charlaman Tha God.
