Not only did the feat break the previous robotics record set by an MIT robot in 2018, it also did so in less than the time it takes a human to blink.

The technology behind the win
The secret to TOKUFASTbot’s success is its rotation mechanism, which allows it to rotate 90 degrees in just 0.9 milliseconds. This incredible speed is made possible by Mitsubishi Electric’s signal-responsive servo motors and cutting-edge color recognition artificial intelligence algorithms. The result is a robot that can evaluate, plan and execute puzzle-solving solutions faster than the eye can see.

new Guinness World Records While the title “fastest robot that solves a rotating puzzle cube” is an incredible achievement, TOKUFASTbot is more than just a one-trick pony. Its design is made for function, not show. As Yuji Yoshimura, senior general manager of Mitsubishi Electric’s Parts Production Technology Center, points out, the robot’s primary role is to enhance the manufacturing of motors for everyday appliances.
