‘Fuming’ White House Cancels High-Priority Meeting With Israel After Netanyahu Scolds U.S. Over Weapons

The Biden administration canceled a high-profile meeting with Israeli leaders scheduled for Thursday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a video alleging the U.S. was withholding military aid.

President Joe Biden’s top advisers are reportedly outraged by Netanyahu’s comments claiming the US is withholding arms and ammunition from Israel, a senior Israeli official told the outlet. Axios“Americans are outraged. Bibi’s video has done a lot of damage.”

In response, hours after the video was posted, U.S. Special Envoy Amos Hochstein personally delivered a message to Prime Minister Netanyahu telling him his accusations were false and excessive.

Soon after, the White House also canceled a meeting scheduled for Thursday to discuss Iran, two U.S. and Israeli sources said. Axios.

“This decision makes it clear that there are consequences for such actions,” one U.S. official said.

“It is inconceivable that in the past few months, the administration has withheld the supply of arms and ammunition to Israel,” Netanyahu said in the video in English.

Meanwhile, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre insisted that only one arms shipment had been halted since the start of the war.

“We have no idea what he’s talking about,” she stressed.

Additionally, reports said several Israeli officials were already on their way to Washington when the Iran meeting was canceled.

This is the second time a meeting on the Iran Strategic Dialogue has been cancelled at the last minute. In March, Netanyahu called off the meeting after the US failed to veto a UN security resolution that mentioned a ceasefire in Gaza.

Despite the tensions between Biden and Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister is scheduled to address a joint session of parliament on July 24.Number.
