A woman was sexually assaulted by a man in a shed, but a group of men responded to her screams and the man
Stabbed to deathAccording to Nevada State Police.
The Las Vegas Police Department said police are still investigating the deadly incident, which was reported to have happened Tuesday near a shopping mall.
“You see people fighting and doing drugs. It’s a dangerous area.”
A man in his 50s was found stabbed to death in an alleyway off Charleston Boulevard near Laurel Street around 3:30 p.m.
Police say a woman in her 30s told officers she was being sexually assaulted by a man in a shed on a vacant lot, and a group of men came to her aid.
During the ensuing altercation, the man was stabbed and pronounced dead after being taken to University Medical Center.
All the men involved fled the scene and police say they are still identifying them to establish exactly what happened.
“At this time we do not know who the men were that came to the woman’s aid,” Detective Inspector Jason Johanson said. “They left prior to our arrival. We are currently in the process of identifying who they are, interviewing them and finding out all about what happened.”

1 witness He told KSNV-TV Seven people rushed to the woman’s aid, and he claimed he was not the one who stabbed the assailant.
“He held her against her will and we tried to force him out of the shed but he wouldn’t come out,” said the man, who did not want to be identified. “But we all went into the shed and got him out.”
He said he didn’t even know the man had been stabbed because everyone had left the scene after the incident.
“I thought my job yesterday was to protect that woman and make sure that no one like this would ever come on our streets again,” the man added. “I never thought that man would die, but that’s what happened.”
Police are also reviewing surveillance video of the incident.
“It was all done with good intentions.”
Anabel Garcia, owner of Belleza Beauty Salon, said she was shocked by the incident.
“I’m so anxious and scared,” Garcia said. He told KTNV-TV“It was really surprising because it happened in broad daylight.”
Eric Moreno works at a nearby cell phone store and said crime is constant in the area.
“You see people fighting and doing drugs. It’s a dangerous area,” he said. “We need stronger security in this area.”
“It was all done with good intentions,” Amailani Rangel, who works at a tobacco store, told KSNV. “It’s sad that someone had to die.”
