With free agency underway, let’s take a look at the Nets’ three offseason targets.
Tyus Jones
position: Point Guard
Year: 28
With Ben Simmons’ health in jeopardy and Dennis Schroder having one year left on his contract, the Nets need a reliable playmaker.
Jones has been a reliable player, averaging 12 points and 7.3 assists per game for Washington last season.
Jones, a longtime reserve player at Memphis, is ready to lead a team.
But acquiring him at the end of his two-year, $29 million contract would likely require a multi-year, mid-level exception, assuming he still fits in with the rebuilding Nets.
Trendon Watford
position: forward
Year: twenty three
Sources say Brooklyn have made a qualifying offer to Watford.
This makes him a restricted free agent, meaning the Nets can match any offer sheet for him.
His numbers of 6.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game last season were modest.
But he stepped up over the final 11 games, averaging 12.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and shooting 54.1 percent overall and 44.0 percent from three-point range while playing as a point forward.
Lonnie Walker IV
position: Shooting Guard
Year: twenty five
The Nets are in desperate need of points after trading away Mikal Bridges.
Walker was a prolific goalscorer early on last season but ended up going in the opposite direction with Watford.

Despite missing several weeks with a hamstring injury, he averaged 11.4 points while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 42.5 percent from 3-point range through his first 43 games.
However, over his final 15 games, he averaged just 5.1 points on 31.6 percent field goal shooting and 20.0 percent three-point shooting.
Would the Nets give him another minimum contract, and would he accept it?
