About a dozen baseball fans who had packed into American Family Field to watch the Milwaukee Brewers play the Chicago Cubs were injured Saturday when an escalator malfunctioned.
Six people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and five were treated at the ballpark, Brewers senior vice president of public relations and related affairs Tyler Barnes said in a statement.

Burns added that the escalator malfunction “caused the rate of descent to increase.”
The incident occurred after the match, between the Terrace and Loge floors.
“All of a sudden, about halfway down the escalator, the whole thing started shaking and we heard a noise,” said Greg Braggs of CHGO Sports. FOX 6 Milwaukee“It was so shocking that it scared everyone on the escalator.

“As soon as we laughed away our fears, it all came crashing down and we started to go downhill like a rollercoaster.”
The Cubs defeated the Brewers, 5-3, to end Milwaukee’s five-game winning streak.
Milwaukee still holds a sizable lead in the National League Central at 49-34, 6.5 games behind the St. Louis Cardinals.
