San Francisco 49ers guard Brandon Aiyuk named two teams he could join if he were traded.
In an era when wide receivers are signing big contracts across the NFL, there has been much discussion about Aiyuk potentially leaving the 49ers.
Aiyuk has not done so and is eligible for a $14 million team option this season, the final year of the rookie-scale contract he signed after being drafted 25th overall by the 49ers in 2020 out of Arizona State.
Without a contract extension in place, training camp has quietly approached and trade rumors have circulated, even going so far as to recently name possible destinations if he were to move. Appeared on The Pivot Podcast.
But first, he acknowledged that he’ll probably stay in San Francisco for now.
“If I had to guess, it’d probably be a Niners uniform,” Aiyuk admitted when asked what jersey he’ll wear this season. “Probably a Niners uniform, but if it’s not a Niners uniform, it’ll be a Washington Commanders uniform. If it’s not a Washington Commanders uniform, it’ll probably be a Steelers uniform.”

Aiyuk and the Steelers have been rumored to be together several times this offseason, with the star wide receiver publicly tweeting about it to Mike Tomlin back in March.
Aiyuk caught 75 passes for 1,342 yards receiving and seven touchdowns last season and was named second-team All-Pro.
Prior to this, he had a breakout year in 2022, catching 78 passes for 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns.
He had three catches for 49 yards in the 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs.
