As New York City’s Pride Month came to a close on Sunday night, video showed riots erupting in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village.

“A total of 15 people were detained on various charges, including assault, disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental government,” the New York Police Department told Fox News Digital.

A series of videos posted online showed the chaos continued for several hours.

A young woman dressed in pink was pulled by her hair from behind and dropped onto a concrete fence at the edge of a huge fountain in a park.

A moment later, someone punches a woman standing next to her in the face, causing her to fall as well. The video shows both women being punched multiple times in the face and thrown to the ground by the assailant, who then runs into the crowd.

Another video shows two men exchanging punches, before one is thrown to the ground and another man runs over and kicks him in the face, and then a fistfight breaks out between two women a few steps away.

People punched each other and fell to the sidewalk, and at least one woman made her way through the crowd with blood streaming from her face.

Several good Samaritans were seen helping the victim to his feet and carrying him out of the crowd while others ran back and forth screaming.

Some people even stopped to twerk for the camera, and some even climbed onto utility poles to twerk.

People continued to jump police barricades after the sun went down, with dozens of people seen holding mobile phones to film the crowds.

Washington Square Park is in the city’s Greenwich Village neighborhood, just a few blocks from the Stonewall Inn, a landmark of the LGBT rights movement since June 1969, when police raided the bar, sparking days of protests.

A year later, organizers held a march in Manhattan that became the precursor to the city’s annual Pride Parade, officials said.

This year’s march route took us south from 25th Street and Fifth Avenue into Greenwich Village, past the Stonewall Inn and up Seventh Avenue.

A group of anti-Israel protesters also disrupted the parade early Sunday, destroying floats and blocking the route.

Organizers appeared to ignore the chaos.

“We’ve certainly seen an uptick this year in terms of protests at Pride events,” Sandra Perez, executive director of New York Pride, told The Associated Press, “but we were born out of protest.”
