“Flight UX045 bound for Montevideo was diverted to Natal airport in Brazil due to severe turbulence,” Air Europa said. Said “The plane landed normally and those who suffered various injuries are already being treated,” CNN reported in a Twitter post.

Following the accident, the Boeing plane landed in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Norte. According to TMZ, the injured passengers were taken to Monsenor Walfredo Gurgel Hospital in Natal where they were treated for injuries of varying severity. The accident adds to a series of troubles facing Boeing. One such incident was the death of a man on a Singapore Airlines flight in May 2024, when the plane also encountered unexpected severe turbulence.
