A prominent British BBC presenter has caused controversy by saying that President Joe Biden should assassinate former President Donald Trump before the 2024 election.

David Aaronvich, presenter of Radio 4’s Briefing Room programme, attracted backlash in a since-deleted X (Twitter) post.
“If I were Biden I would rush to kill Trump because he is a threat to American security,” the post read.

Using the hashtag #SCOTUS, Aronovich linked her online comments to the Supreme Court’s recent decision to uphold presidential immunity.
Other social media users also chimed in on the now-deleted post, with one X user commenting: “It’s funny how Brits look down on Americans and pretend to feel sorry for them yet they can’t stop talking about us and are way more obsessed with America than us.”
Related to this post, President Trump was recently granted immunity from prosecution for all “official business” he performed while in office by a 6-3 decision, though the ruling did not specify what “official business” specifically refers to.
Aaronvich’s tweet sparked a huge backlash, with many accusing him of violating his employer’s employee fairness policy.
Apparently unhappy with the reaction to his initial post, he quickly deleted it, and in a subsequent X-Tweet explained that he did so because social media users had misinterpreted it as a call to violence rather than comedy.
Alex Armstrong, GB Newsaccused Alex of “backtracking” on the advice of his media “reps.” Aaronvich responded, “Yeah, Alex, tell me about my ‘rep,'” but remained adamant about his comments.
