Missouri couple’s wedding goes awry when groom is shot in head, critically injured during attempted robbery

A day of celebration suddenly took a dark turn in Missouri when a groom was shot in the head by an armed robber during his backyard wedding reception.

Manuel and Dulce Gonzalez, who have been together for more than 10 years and are already parents to two young children, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on Friday in the backyard of their St. Louis home, inviting about 50 of their closest friends and family, Fox 2 Now reported Monday.

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, St. Louis Metropolitan Police responded to a home in Dutchtown for a report of a shooting.

Witnesses told police that two masked men with guns entered the party and demanded money from patrons, police said.
