Comedian Adam Carolla was recently tapped to guest host News Nation, where he was put face-to-face with California Governor Gavin Newsom.
And he was happy to use the opportunity to condemn the governor’s conduct against Californians during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Governor, why did you close California’s beaches during COVID?” Carolla asked Newsom.
“I think at the time we were all working off of information. We didn’t have a foundation of deep understanding of the virus,” Newsom responded, but Carolla fired back.
“If you didn’t know anything, why did you close the beach?” he asked angrily.
“Well, we didn’t know,” Newsom said, trailing off, before adding, “Early on in the pandemic, people were worried. Information was coming out about how it spreads, about the disease, and people were being cautious to try to protect people’s lives.”
“He closed the beaches because he wasn’t allowing us to get some sun and get some vitamin D and exercise, and he arrested a guy for paddleboarding in the bay,” Carola continued, adding, “Is there any science behind that? Is there any science behind banning outdoor dining? Why did he ban outdoor dining?”
Newsom smiled awkwardly and dodged questions throughout the interview, but Carolla kept interrupting him with citing Californians’ grievances.
Former Californian Dave Rubin understands the anger.
“If you think I hate Gavin Newsom, Carolla might be the only guy on earth who hates him more than I do, and he still lives in California,” Rubin says.
