Norwegian cyclist Andre Drege, 25, Dies after ‘Serious Accident’

Norwegian cyclist Andre Droege was involved in a serious cycling accident during a race on Saturday and died at the age of 25.

Fox News reported that Draige was racing for Team Co-op Repsol at the Tour of Austria. Fell off the bike During stage 4.

The team confirmed the player’s death and said in a post by X that they sent their thoughts and prayers to the player’s family.

It has not been reported whether any other racers were involved in the accident, but Drage was the only one seriously injured.

“It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Andre Droege. On Saturday 6 July, Andre fell and sustained serious injuries in a very serious accident on the Grossglockner descent during the fourth stage of the Tour of Austria,” tour organisers said in a statement on social media.

Italian cyclist Filippo Ganna won the stage, but his death led to the post-race awards ceremony and a memorial ride planned for Sunday in Drege’s honour being cancelled.

Drage has won seven races this year and was expected to finish at the top of the standings and move up to WorldTour level next year.
