Karine Jean-Pierre suggests Russians are using online bots to help Trump by spreading damaging videos from the debate

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre suggested Russia may have used online bot farms to spread damaging debate videos to help former President Donald Trump’s campaign.

Jean-Pierre is Speculation He answered reporters’ questions at a press conference on Tuesday.

“That’s a very good question.”

“Are you concerned at this point that this is a front for an attempt by Russia to interfere in our election? Has the President been briefed on this,” the reporter asked. “Have you seen any evidence that Russia or any other foreign power has sought to exploit the debate performance to re-enact some of the president’s most embarrassing moments?”

“That’s a very good question,” she replied.

“The specific questions that you just raised are ones that I need to discuss with our team. There were multiple questions in your statement. I will leave it to the Department of Justice to decide what they will release. Of course, that is something to talk to them about,” Jean-Pierre added.

“AI has always been a concern, which is why the president recently announced he would take executive action on how to address it,” she concluded. “I look forward to more thorough legislative action from Congress.”

Also on Tuesday, the Justice Department Announced The company said it had taken down a Russian government-backed online bot farm that was spreading disinformation on “X,” the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Today’s action marks the first attempt to disrupt a Russian-backed generative AI-powered social media bot farm,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said.

The statement said Russian intelligence had access to a “social media bot farm” with more than 1,000 accounts posing as US citizens.

“Russia used this bot farm to spread AI-generated foreign disinformation and expand its AI-assisted operations in an attempt to undermine its Ukrainian partners and influence a geopolitical narrative favorable to the Russian government,” Wray added.

“They will blame Russia for Biden’s debate performance.”

White House critics have blasted attempts to link the embarrassing debate video to a Russian disinformation campaign.
