A mass shooting in Maryland occurred early Saturday morning, resulting in injuries to six individuals, including two children, according to local officials.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department announced that emergency services transported a man to a nearby hospital with injuries that, thankfully, are not life-threatening.
As the situation unfolded, it became clear that the violence extended beyond the initial location. Throughout the morning, detectives were alerted by three different hospitals reporting that several people had arrived seeking treatment for gunshot wounds.
Among those injured, there was a woman with an extremity injury, while two boys suffered lower leg injuries. Reports indicate that all victims received medical attention for injuries that are not life-threatening.
“Detectives are interviewing the victims to piece together the events surrounding this incident,” stated one of the officials. They noted that this investigation remains ongoing and that additional information would be shared once available.
As of Saturday afternoon, it was unclear if any arrests had been made in connection with the shooting.
Hanover, where the shooting took place, is situated about 25 miles south of downtown Baltimore and roughly 30 miles northeast of Washington, DC.
