Following what appears to be an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, it has been revealed that the FBI led the investigation and that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. defended the former president.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has classified the attempted assassination of former President Trump as an “incident” and announced that it will take the lead role in the investigation.
The F.B.I. press release Saturday:
The FBI has assumed the role of lead federal law enforcement in the investigation of an incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania early today. Special Agents from the FBI’s Pittsburgh Field Office responded immediately, including members of our Crisis Response Team and Evidence Response Technicians. We will continue to support this investigation with the full resources of the FBI, along with our partners at the U.S. Secret Service and state and local law enforcement. Anyone with information that could assist in the investigation is asked to contact our tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
Current presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called on Americans to set aside political differences and help President Trump recover from the assassination attempt.
“Now is the time for all Americans who love our country to turn away from division, renounce all violence and come together in prayer for President Trump and his family,” RFK Jr. said. I have written on Saturday night on X social media platforms.
As previously reported by The Blaze News, Trump said of the alleged assassination attempt:
I want to thank the U.S. Secret Service and all of the law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the shooting that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most of all, I want to express my condolences to the family of the person who died at the rally and the family of the other person who was seriously injured. It is hard to believe that something like this could happen in our country. At this time, we know nothing about the person who shot him. He is deceased. I was shot above my right ear. I knew right away that something was wrong because I heard a whoosh and a gunshot and felt the bullet break through my skin. I was bleeding profusely and realized what was going on. God bless America.
Officials are said to be holding a press conference later Saturday night to provide further details.
