Asset management firm BlackRock acknowledged Sunday that a man who plotted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania rally had briefly appeared in one of the company’s video ads.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, appears in the ad sitting in a high school classroom in his hometown of Bethel, Pennsylvania.
Crooks’ appearance in the ad has sparked conspiracy theories among critics of the large company’s involvement in the DEI movement.
The company said Crooks received no compensation for appearing in the ad, which was created to promote retirement planning.

Police authorities have not released any information about a motive for Crooks’ actions.
