Bethal Park, Pennsylvania – The parents of the 20-year-old boy who fired shots at former President Trump are professional counselors licensed by the Pennsylvania Board of Human Services.
Mary Elizabeth Crooks and Matthew Brian Crooks of Bethel Park, Pa., are licensed professional counselors, according to the Pennsylvania Licensing System Verification Service.
Police said both of the would-be assassin’s parents, aged 20, had valid driver’s licenses.
Records show that Mary and Matthew’s licenses expire in February 2025, but they have both been practicing professional counselors since 2002.

Crooks’ motive for the shooting remains unclear.
Records show that Crooks was registered as a Republican voter, but his campaign finance report also showed that he donated $15 to a progressive political action committee on Jan. 20, 2021, the day President Biden was sworn in.
