A man carrying an AK-47 pistol and wearing a balaclava was arrested Monday just blocks from Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, where the Republican National Convention is being held, a federal law enforcement source confirmed to Fox News.
Homeland Security agents and Capitol Police were conducting surveillance near the Republican National Convention perimeter when they spotted a suspicious man approaching, wearing a ski mask and carrying a tactical bag, according to a Fox News source.
Police found a gun and a full magazine in the bag, but the perpetrator’s intentions are unclear.
Milwaukee Police confirmed the incident to Fox News, saying a 21-year-old man was arrested Monday around 1 p.m. in the 1200 block of North 11th Street.

Police say the man does not have a concealed carry weapon permit in Wisconsin or any other state.
Charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, police said.

Fox News contacted the Secret Service about the incident, who referred them to the Milwaukee Police Department. Fox News has also contacted Homeland Security Investigations and the Department of Homeland Security, but has not yet heard back.
