President Joe Biden on Tuesday called on the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to ask Congress to “outlaw” AR-15s and similar rifles in the wake of the assassination attempt on President Donald Trump.
“If we’re going to talk about violence, we have to talk about guns,” Biden began his remarks.
“An AR-15 was used to shoot Donald Trump. It is an assault weapon that has killed many people, including children. It’s time to make it illegal. I did it once and I will do it again,” he said.
Biden also repeated the false claim that “more children die in America from gun violence than from any other cause.”
He made the same claim, but in different terms, at a press conference Thursday, saying “more children are killed by gunshots than by any other cause.”
Breitbart News noted that Biden has been making this claim since June 2, 2022, and that it has been false each time.
